JOB PLACEMENT & TRAINING

DO YOU NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ATTEND COLLEGE IN A CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION TRAINING PROGRAM?

If so, the Job Placement & Training program provides financial assistance to eligible individuals who are pursuing a Certificate, Diploma, or Associate of Applied Science program.
This program is intended to help Native American members acquire the job skills needed for the workforce. The Job Placement & Training program can award up to $10,000 per student per year. That is a possible award of $20,000 for a 2-year program.
Job Placement & Training (JP&T) allows applicants to attend an accredited program or College offering a vocational trade or (AAS) degree. We allow up to 24 months to complete a program/ degree, and up to 36 months If it is a nursing degree as most Colleges require more credit hours for program fulfillment.

To be eligible for this program, individuals must:
• Have a blood quantum of at least ¼ and be enrolled in a federally recognized tribe.
• Reside in the Trenton Indian Service Area for at least 60 days from the date of application.
(Divide, Williams, McKenzie, Sheridan, Roosevelt, and Richland County)
• Be at least 18 years of age, with the exception that high school graduates shall be eligible at 17 years with proof of High School Diploma or GED.
• Have applied for the Federal Pell Grant with (FAFSA)
• Have an unmet need with the College or Institution.

• Apply for admission to schools
• Apply for financial aid using the FAFSA website
• Apply for Indian Student/ Minority Tuition Fee Waiver
• Transferring students: Obtain Financial Aid transfer records from schools previously attended

• Priority date for Admission, Financial Aid, and Scholarship applications

• Submit any other forms necessary for Financial Aid
• Respond promptly to requests for other information

TYPES OF AIDE

Financial aid grant money is a form of financial aid that doesn’t have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances.

Education loans are a form of financial aid that must be repaid-with interest. Eligibility may be based on tuition costs and financial need.

Student loans can come from the federal government, referred to as federal student loans, and will also need to be paid back with interest.

Federal Work Study  are jobs for eligible students to help them pay for their education.

Scholarships is a grant or payment made to support a student’s education, awarded on the basis of academic or another achievement.
